*NEW* 59 ArchiveWF SB90 - Full Vintage Construction P90 Set
My Archive SB90s are intended to be the single most detailed, physically and sonically accurate vintage replica P90 I can possibly offer. They require a lot of hand-work and production time but they are so very worth it! Of course the wind is replicated to original spec (with proprietary tweaks to mimic the effects of less consistent vintage wire) but from there we go all the way down the rabbit hole! Vintage spec tinned brass baseplate with accurate dimples - clipped “ears” as in the originals - rubber baseplate gromit - correct internal start wire specs - hand cut short butyrate covers in two options - rough cast magnets that gauss to and respond as they should - specific carbon content screw and keeper spec and on from there, even the brown paper tape on the finish wire is replicated.

P90s are a specific passion here at SUNBEAR. As a player they have been my single most loved pickup since I was 16 years old and tried my very first (in an Ibanez JS700 of all things). Over the years I’ve worked on dozens of vintage sets as well as owning examples from 52 through to 62 and currently keeping examples from numerous years on hand in my own guitars and reference instruments. After over 20 years of playing them and years of making them, I’ve now lined everything up to offer my take on the very finest examples of the most magic pickup design from history.

The 59 SB90 Archive WF (in dedication to Walt Fuller, Inventor of the P90) offer the following spec as standard:
BRIDGE: +/- 8.2k Alnico IV. Based around an original 59 I keep in my own collection this pickup is pure, classic tone of the period. Bright but never harsh it has the correct mid focus without being brash or lacking in nuance. Every detail of both your particular guitar and you as a player hit the amp in a controllable yet raw presentation…. Everything that makes the P90 so special.
NECK +/- 7.7k Alnico II. An early 1960 SC Les Paul Special sent me on the quest for this pickup and then I ran into an utterly incredible 1958/9…. This pickup is the distillation of the inspiration those pickups created. It’s got a brilliant bounce and real single coil clarity mixed with the rich, full quality the best vintage examples embody. Full but clear is the superlative you tend to hear repeated by folks who know these pickups and it’s absolutely a good encapsulation!
