It was just such a “discovery” that lead to this ultra detailed recreation of a couple of vintage 59/60 Strat pickups I had across my bench for repair. I carefully unwound several thousand layers by hand and took detailed notes, photos and readings as I went. Some quirks of the wind profiles found just begged to be investigated, further so I took to the hand winder and produced a few prototypes with painstaking attention to replicating the idiosyncrasies found in the originals in question.
This prototypes were tested alongside some fully functioning originals and also sent out to some friends who are, I’m sure they won’t mind me saying, utterly Strat obsessed. All have agreed this set, that has become the “60 Archive Strat Set” replicate the sweet bloom, low end thump and utterly recognisable classic late 50s/early 60s pre CBS character. Indeed this set has ended up in several vintage Strat owners modern gigging guitars.
