“Sunbear’s are amoung the best we’ve HeArd”

Huw Price’ comments on the 59 SBPAF A5 during his Guitar Magazine review of the Ivison Guitars Hurricane:
“As PAF Replica go, Sunbear’s are among the very best we’ve heard, and the bridge unit successfully captures the Hurricane’s sonic character. It’s bright, clear, aggressive and very touch sensitive. If you are a fan of cocked-wah midrange quack, harmonic bloom, and the open-throated roar of vintage style humbuckers, you’ll find plenty to love here.” You can read the full review HERE

Alex Hamilton Reviewing his custom SBPAF Set:

“the Sunbears are a great repro-PAF set that reminds us how many of the good vintage originals preface their juicy, plummy core with a lively, slicing attack that makes for attention-getting soloing.”

59 SBPAF Review by Perry Hickson, originally posted to the Facebook Page HERE.

“Received my custom wound set from Stuart last week and finally got round to fitting them today.
Transformed my already good Gibson R0 into a completely different beast. Neck pickup is plummy and deep without getting woolly on clean or overdriven sounds, and the bridge has gone from an ice pick - to an iron fist in a velvet glove. Tons of tone and a sound that makes you want to dig in rather than wince!
The ageing on the covers was top notch as well - not ridiculously relic’d and at fist I thought a bit “new looking” but once fitted and compared with actual original PAF’s they’re scarily accurate. If you’re sitting on the fence regarding replacement pickups - look no further than this guy. These things are different level good.

“bucketloads of Filter’Tron flavour”

Huw Price’ Review featured in Guitar Magazine’s 2020 Filtertron roundup:The Sunbear’s (BearTron Standard) have bucketloads of Filter’Tron flavour and absolutely nail the phasey midrange character. The bridge has a wonderfully vintage quack and the neck has a pleasing sheen with no lack of clarity. Output levels are strong but they’re not too powerful, and there’s no sense that compromises have been made to achieve such a healthy output. This refined set is warmer and smoother than most but doesn’t have quite as much chime or the Telecaster-type wiriness of some of its competitors. There’s a full and almost plummy character to the low mids and the output level, combined with the non-scooped midrange and total absence of grit, would make these ideal for jazzy cleans and overdriven rock alike.

56 SB90 Review by Julius Plank originally posted to the Facebook Page HERE:

“I've bought a set of 56 P90 for a SG special that was already a good 'live' guitar. The Set of SUNBEAR 56'P90 makes this guitar alive : raw and delicate , for a whisper to a scream. the typical sound you want from a P90.The guitar range has improved a lot, notes are clear and defined, very articulate and dynamic...Pickups will force me to play better! The service was exemplar, the attention to detail is evil. Stu took great care to make something in phase with my needs. Couldn't recommend any better company for pickups replacement.

“Everything has been first class”

Professional Guitar Tutor Graig Garwood’s comments on the 59 Sweet Transition HSS set: “Just fitted my first set of Sunbear pickups. From my first enquiry to Stuart to the sound of the fitted items everything has been first class. Packaging , build quality and most importantly tone are all top drawer. I can’t recommend Stuart and his company highly enough .. if you need some A grade pickups do yourself a favour and drop him a message.”
